Denver Whiffs on West Virgina's Steve Slaton

Post per Denver Broncos forums:

Steve Slayton Pictures, Images and Photos

The Denver Broncos traded a third round pick and more to the Minnesota in order to acquire the pick that turned out to be Marcus Thomas. Hindsight is 20/20, so a review would be unfair, but that pick could have been used to pick up West Virginia's Steve Slaton. Slaton, who finished sixth in the league in rushing yards also found the endzone ten times and added almost four hundred yards receiving. This, despite a sometimes shaky quarterback situation in Houston. From a Broncos' perspective, Slaton finished the season, a feat that has eluded Broncos' running backs in 2008.

To add insult to injury (or in Denver's case, injuries), the Houston Bron...Texans finished with the same record as Denver at eight and eight despite playing in a division which featured the AFC leading Tennessee Titans and the playoff bound Indianapolis Colts. Houston should have finished nine and seven were it not for two costly mistakes by Sage Rosenfels in a game against the Colts.

In the end, the Houston Texans have a thousand yard running back, the Chiefs ended up with Minnesota's pick from Denver and turned it into Jamaal Charles, and Denver is left a with defensive tackle with no sacks and a defense that has analysts proclaiming the team, the enver Broncos.

The Broncos Really Need a Kicker

Since week 8, Matt Prater has missed a field goal every week except for one. Strong leg, terrible kicker. Why didn't they just keep Elam?

Notre Dame to Finally Get a Bowl Win?

As Lee Corso would say, NOT SO FAST MY FRIENDS!

I don't see Notre Dame getting the job done tonight, and Charlie Weiss getting pushed further out of South Bend. Why does he even have a job? Jimmy Clausen was supposed to be the savior, losing Brady Quinn and crew was supposed to be no problem. Yet 2 years later, Weiss looks like a laughing stock.

Can they beat Hawaii? Sure, they CAN. But will they? No chance. This team has bad karma written all over it for how they treated Ty Willingham. (I know, I know, Washington sucks but that's not my point here) Charlie, I hope you can weesel your way into a new job after next year. I heard Clemson might need a coach.

Ian Johnson All Time WAC TD Leader

Ian Johnson just scored his 58th career touchdown against TCU to make him the WAC's all-time touchdown leader. The guy he passed? Marshall Faulk. Impressive.

Matt Ryan Proves Me Wrong

Matt Ryan Pictures, Images and Photos

Yes, at one time I wrote a post on this blog, "5 reasons why Matt Ryan will be a bust". But Matty Ice has played MVP ball this year. And the Falcons are in the playoffs! I couldn't have been more wrong.

Here's what a reader wrote to me:

it couldn't have ended up more differently than what you said... Turner and Norwood have both done a good job, and Matt Ryan has one of the best rookie seasons for a qb in nfl history. The receivers are all doing great, including 3rd round draft pick, harry douglas, and the offensive line has been quite allright (even without sam baker for most of the season). The defense has done a really good job too, even with quite a few rookies as starters :D better luck next time... and go for the unexpected, it seems like that's whats happening the whole time in the NFL

Aaron Rodger is Better Than Alex Smith

Remember when everyone debated about who's the better Quarterback: Alex Smith or Aaron Rodgers? Well the answer is clear. It's Aaron Rodgers.

Regardless of the fact that Aaron has started exactly (1) Preseason game for his whole career, I can confidently say that he is leagues better than Smith. I knew that in the draft, Rodgers' height would work against him and Smith's inflated numbers from the spread offense would get him picked earlier.

Years later, the 49ers STILL need a Quarterback and Green Bay looks happy that they grabbed the "lesser" of the two quarterbacks.

Knowshon Moreno, Matt Stafford #1 and #2 Overall?

Is it possible that the runningback and quarterback from the #1 ranked Georgia Bulldogs could be drafted #1 and #2 overall next year? It's very possible.

Moreno has proven himself to be in the top tier of underclassman runners. He is ahead of the likes of Noel Devine, Percy Harvin, and Joe McKnight in my opinion. Between him and LeSean McCoy it's a toss up for first back taken if they both happen to come out.

Stafford is one of college football's best. He doesn't have the resume' of Tim Tebow or Rudy Carpenter but he projects to a better pro at this point. Tebow comes from the Uber Meyer misdirection offense which produces statistical monsters, and Carpenter has been solid but not great at Arizona state.

If Georgia can escape the SEC and win a title this year these two young players may make noise in the next NFL Draft.

Miami Picks Up Pennington

What's up with Florida teams and collecting QBs?

After seeing his release from the Jets for "The God"Farve,
QB Chad Pennington has been picked up by Miami and the veteran now gives them four quarterbacks in their logjam: Pennington, John Beck, second round pick Chad Henne, and starter Josh McCown. Obviously Chad and Henne are the only QBs worth keeping out of this bunch.

Eddie Royal Wins Starting Job

Mike Shanahan has given Eddie Royal the green light and he is officially a full time starter now. Starting at wide receiver alongside Brandon Marshall, Royal will enter the preseason atop the depth chart. Darrell Jackson has moved to 4th receiver at best, but he is in jeopardy of losing a roster spot.

Royal, who was assumed to be a slot receiver is now the #2. Stokely will retain his slot spot, and Colbert is the assumed fourth receiver. Jackson is battling Glenn Martinez, Sammie Parker, and Lorne Sam to keep a roster spot.

Favre is a Jet... I Don't Care

I'm glad the media circus is finally over with the Packers trading Favre out of the NFL to the bottom of the AFC in the New York Jets. Many are hyping this situation, but I don't feel the excitement. This feels like Thurman Thomas in Miami, Emmitt in Arizona, or Franco in Seattle.

Brett Favre is an all-time great but his best days are behind him. Seeing him in NY won't be anything special. He'll win a few games, make one or two highlights, but nothing special. He's just another guy who doesn't know when it's over.

Rod Smith Ends Hall of Fame Career

Broncos all time leading receiver Rod Smith called it a career Thursday at a press conference among family and teammates. Rod missed the 2007 season with a hip injury which ultimately caused him to call it a career. Rod leaves the NFL leading the Broncos and undrafted players in every major statistical category.

Should he be in the Hall? One ESPN.com user thinks so.

"ROD should be in the HOF. He may not be a first ballot but he will be no later than a second ballot. Only one person won more games in a career of 11 years-Art Monk (going into HOF this year). Rod won 110 games in 10 years as a starter-11 a year!

Only 4 wr's ahead of him for receptions over the same period

only one has more SB rings. Nobody blocked like rod. So there you have it, wins, sb's, receptions, blocking.

I could go on and on but he better make it. The only thing against him is he played in Denver. He might suffer from the Gradishar-effect. Had he played in Dallas, he would be a "lock" and this article would have been front page on the four letter network."

Farve's Back!

farve

According to every breaking media outlet, Brett Farve has asked for the Packers to release him so he can sign on with another NFL franchise and play this season. Anyone with two eyes could have seen this one coming as the Packers seemed hell bent on drafting his replacement year after year (Rodger and Brohm currently on the roster).

Farve's story will continue on elsewhere, but where? I'm guessing Baltimore or Chicago, with Minnesota and Miami being a darkhorse as well. But if you put a gun to my head, I'd say Baltimore because of their love of the over-the-hill QB and the lack of talent on the roster aside from Troy Smith, but they won't give him a chance!

Matt Jones Is a Cokehead

matt jones w/ blow

It saddens me to say this because I like many other fans thought that the former SEC QB was a athletic freak and could blossom to something special in the NFL. However after getting caught cutting up coke with a credit card by the Police in his hometown it looks like Jones will be joining Cedric Benson among other former first rounders in the unemployment line.

Matt Jones coming soon to an Arena League team near you!

7-11 and Madden Team Up

For all my gamers out there this is exciting. There will be a in store demo of Madden 09 in 7-11 stores nationwide as part of a new promotion. I'm guessing it's coming out July 11th.

Here is some in-game video of Jonathan Stewart. You think I'm NOT Pre-ordering this and Head Coach 09?!

2009's Surprise Teams

marshawn lynch

I found this interesting, a few guys from the GameFaqs Madden 09 board got into a discussion about surprise teams and this comment came up, which I totally agree with.

"Matt Forte will give the Bears electricity on offense, but AD did that too and the Vikes only went 8-8, mainly because they could only rely on the running game. Once the Bears get some good WRs, maybe a better QB (I'm not going to say it's a big need until after this season, because before he got injured in the Washington game, Rex was looking the most consistent of his career), and a better O-Line, then they would be considered a "sleeper" because they can actually get points that way.

Broncos have good RBs, a decent QB, and Ryan Clady should come in and do wonders. I consider them a contender for the wildcard. If the Chargers mess something up, then the Broncos are going to be right there to win the division. I'm not saying the Chargers ARE going to bomb, but it's if they do.

I agree with the guy who said the Buffalo Bills also. Trent Edwards was looking good last year, Marshawn Lynch is one of the Top 15 (I'd rank him about 12th) backs in the league, and Lee Evans is an underrated stud. That second receiver is what they need for true success."

Matt Forte Gets Paid

matt forte

I cannot find the terms of the deal, but Cedric Benson's replacement out of Tulane has signed his deal and will be in camp from day 1. This is great news for the Bears who are still looking to recover from their Superbowl letdown two years ago. Between inconsistency at the Quarterback position on the field, and the Running back position off the field, the Bears have been looking for some new blood in their offense. Maybe Tulane's all time leading rusher is that man.

Javon Walker Gets Got

Javon Walker

As if this offseason can't get any worse. Javon Walker was found knocked out alongside a street in Las Vegas. This is one... yes ONE offseason since Darrent Williams was murdered. This guy has learned nothing. Reports say he spent thousands on Dom P. and sprayed the entire crowd with it. What were you celebrating anyways?

Get well, I mean... smart soon Javon.

Marcus Vick Gets Got

vick

Shame, shame, shame. The leg stomping, weed smoking, underage drinking, younger brother of Michael Vick is in trouble again. This time for running away from the cops. Marcus, are you serious? Getting the DUI would have been easier than running away from the cops and causing another fiasco for your family.

Cedric Benson Will Be Unemployed Soon

Im riding this guy hard but how dumb can one man be?

Cocah Lovie Smith told him to leave after he showed up to the OTAs. Two drunken incidents and a piss poor history of on the field play is going to be the end of Mr. Benson.

Enter: Matt Forte.

Cedric Benson is Still Stupid

"Chicago Bears and former University of Texas running back Cedric Benson was arrested and charged with drunken driving in downtown Austin, police said.

Austin police spokeswoman Veneza Aguinaga said Benson was stopped overnight at 5th and Colorado Streets for a traffic violation and refused a breathalyzer and blood test.

Benson was arrested and taken to the Travis County Jail. He was released around 9 a.m. this morning on bond, jail officials said.

The arrest comes a month after Benson was arrested on Lake Travis on charges of boating while intoxicated and resisting arrest, both class B misdemeanors. Those cases are still pending.

Benson was a first-round Bears draft pick in 2005 and started 11 games last season for the team. At the University of Texas, he was a four-year starter and ranks as the school’s second all-time rusher with 5,540 yards."

This guy is making it too easy for the Bears to cut him. What an idiot.

Travis Henry Cut, Selvin looks towards 2000

Today the Broncos cut starting runningback Travis Henry after only one season in Denver. Henry who had a history of failing drug tests and leg injuries was the Broncos #1 running back.

I posted a few days ago that Michael Pittman was a little too candid about being the starter upon his arrival in Denver. Seems as he was right. He knew something we didn't know.

Those in Dove Valley have been praising Ryan Torain's ability to grasp the offense quickly but in May, every rookie get praised. they still have to prove it. Moving on to proving things. Selvin Young. Mr. 2000. He's predicting a 2000 yard season and now there is one less back to take carries from him. Can he do it? The watch is on.

Shanny Brings In Michael Pittman

I'm reaching for the panic button as I type this.

Days after Travis Henry goes down with yet another hamstring injury Mike Shanahan has decided to bring in former Buccaneers running back Michael Pittman. I'm not thrilled at all.

A few years ago this would have been a good move but at this point I'm skeptical. Will Travis Henry even be wearing Broncos blue once the season starts? I don't know. Michael Pittman talks very candidly about being the starter in this interview.

What makes this even more interesting is the fact that the Broncos opted to sign the 32 year old Pittman after drafting Ryan Torain who is a similar built back but also has injury problems in his past like Pittman and Henry.

Could this be a disaster in the making? Who could save the Broncos?

Selvin Young believes he can.

As a matter of fact he feels that he can rush for 2000 yards this season. Travis have you passed any of that "second hand smoke" over to Selvin?

All jokes aside, it will be interesting to see who emerges as the man in Denver this year. My money is on the $2000 man Mr. Young.

Vince Almost Quit

It came out this week that Vince Young considered retirement just after playing one season in the NFL. He hasn't said why but you have to imagine the immense pressure of being a NFL Quarterback probably got to him. I wonder sometimes about these young guys coming into the NFL because many of them are not ready for that amount of pressure.

You have to remember that many of these kids are aged 20-22 and not even college graduates. Meaning their last job likely was at a Burger King, Foot Locker, or Walmart. To go from that kind of job to the bright lights may be too much for some.

I can't wait to see how Matt Ice stays cool in the ATL next year.

Do I want to see Shaun Alexander in a Broncos uniform?

The answer is a resounding no. No, no, no, no, no, no, no!

It makes me sick to my stomach when fellow Bronco fans kick this idea around on message boards. Alexander is over the hill and worn out. He's done.

Ever since Curtis Martin edged him out for the rushing title a few years ago and Alexander got his big contract he has been a different back. He isn't the goal line threat he used to be, seeking contact whenever possible to get one in for six. He has now been reduced to a back that tries to make people miss, runs to avoid contact, and not to get hurt. And to add the cherry on top of that he has never had speed.

Alexander is an injury prone, old, slow running back that Denver could live without. If we are going to roll the dice on older players I'd much rather see Mike Anderson back in Mile High.

Arthur Blank Makes it Rain On Matt Ryan

matt ryan

$72 mil, $34 guaranteed. That's how much you can make if you too can take Boston College to the ACC Championship game.

Granted that Ryan is a good QB and is going to be an upgrade over what they have eventually but is he $34 mil of good? We will see. Some are saying that this may be a sign of desperation by Mr. Home Depot, and I couldn't agree more. Vick put them in a bad way and the rebuilding had to start somewhere.

Let's see if Money Matt is worth it before we rush to further judgment.

Fred Davis Never to be Late Again

Redskins rookie Fred Davis stood in front of press and publicly apologized for oversleeping his first practice of his NFL career. I understand millions are going to be invested in him, and he made a bad first impression, but it's time to move on from this non story. People make mistakes and Freddy will be sure to buy two watches, an alarm, and a new phone soon as possible.

People Are Taking Notice

As many of you know, I am extremely vocal on certain topics. Recently I chose to be very vocal in my support of LSU for kicking Ryan Perrilloux off their squad. Well, the internet is taking notice.

HUIQ.com has featured one of my quotes in an article. You can read it for yourself here.

Im Right Again: Say No to Mendenhall

A few months ago, I went on a crusade of sorts against my favorite team drafting Illinois RB Rashard Mendenhall. Why? Because he's overrated. Mendenhype as I like to call him, was a one year wonder and in my opinion a one game wonder (vs. USC). However a lot of Bronco fans thought he was the second coming of LT or TD and bashed me unrelentlessly with blind hype.

Let's see who's right so far. In the
first month of his NFL career Mendenhall has already been injured at minicamp and robbed in Chicago at 2 in the morning. This kid just has bad karma all over him.

Perriloux Will Play For Jackson State

Perriloux will finally make a good decision and transfer to Jacksonville State where he can play ASAP next year. As of right now they have no clear cut starting QB so Perriloux has the job as long as he doesn't mess it up. How many times do people hand out second chances? Not many. Don't mess this one up Ryan.

Seattle Gets It

When I judge a team based on it's draft history I like to look at which impact players they have been able to add in the first four rounds. One team that gets how you should draft is the Seattle Seahawks. They are meat and potatoes almost exclusively on the first day. Check out their draft history in the last 4 drafts:

2005
26. Chris Spencer - Pro Bowl caliber 26 year old center. Need I say more?
45. Lofa Tatupu - Possibly the best player at his position in the NFL.
98. Leroy Hill- More than solid player and could probably start on every linebacker corp in the NFL.

2006
31. Kelly Jennings - young athletic CB who is only getting better.
63. Darryl Tapp - exciting young player and brings ton of energy to the line.
128. Rob Sims - another starter on the line, quality guard that many teams would love to have.

2007
Went defense again on the first day with Josh Wilson, Brandon Mebane, and Baraka Atkins. Two more young defensive linemen in the rotation.

2008
28. Lawrence Jackson - DE who's talent was scooped up quickly.
121. Red Bryant - another defensive lineman, a huge gap stopper in the middle.

They say defense wins championships. Well, the Seattle Seahawks get it and I would not be surprised to see them with the Lombardi trophy sometime this decade due to their extremelly deep defensive line.

LeSean McCoy: 2009 #1 Overall Pick?

I've seen his name pop up surprisingly several times on 2009 previews and mock drafts so I decided to research him. I've admittedly paid no attention to Pittsburgh since Tyler Palko graduated so I wasn't familiar with McCoy.

Here are the vitals:

  • 5'11
  • 200 lbs
  • brother of Texans WR LeRon McCoy

And here's the lowdown:
  • One of the most celebrated high school RB's of the decade
  • Originally committed to Miami
  • Runs Darren McFadden's famous wildcat offense
  • ran for 1,328 yards as a freshman
  • freshman all-american, 1st team big east

Jackson State wants Ryan Perriloux

The smoke totin', backdoor casino sneaking, nightclub brawling former LSU Quarterback might get another chance. The coach of NCAA National Subdivision Jackson State says that he will try to persuade Ryan Perriloux to join his team. Perriloux has a long history of disrespecting team rules and getting into trouble but you cannot deny his potential as an option QB.

If Perriloux transfers to Jackson State he can play immediately as it is a National Subdivision team. Other players in his position such as Maurice Clarett were also suggested to go this route when kicked off prominent Division I teams.

If Perriloux wants a shot at the NFL he probably doesn't have to do this but it certainly would help his case to show he can turn it around. He has talent but huge character concerns would most likely keep him out of the upper rounds of an NFL Draft.

Xavier Lee is playing tight end

In case you haven't heard it, those dirty birds in Baltimore got so competitive in camp that a 85 man brawl busted out on the field. Apparently a DB started it. There were also a few interesting notes about Ravens camp including..

Former Flordia State QB Xavier Lee now playing tight end

Chris Henry wants to be a Saint or a Cowboy

I should add a new category on here, called idiots.

I don't know if it's a late Aprils fools joke or something, but Chris Henry has expressed interest in playing for the Saints or Cowboys. I don't think football is going to be in his future but we'll see.

From the perspective of the Cowboys, how much street cred do you need on one team? Henry, Tank Johnson, and Rainman Jones have more than enough issues for one lockeroom. I have posted that Jerry Jones likes working with players with issues, but not to Henry's effect. He is a guy that seems to find bad things, or bad things always seem to find him. I hope no team is dumb enough to really sign this guy.

2009 Prospect: James Davis RB Clemson

James Davis
6'0 220
26 Career TDs: most among active ACC players.

How high can he go next year with CJ Spiller taking more carries in the backfield?

Davis is hearlded for his speed and vision and has the NFL body already. He compares nicely to Clinton Portis but as a Senior, would come into the league much more mature.

We will keep an eye on Mr. Davis this fall.

Cedric Benson May Be an Idiot

cedric benson

Idiot or not, Cedric Benson is in hot water right now. Not only does he catch a boating DUI days after the NFL Draft (seriously, who gets those?) he is now fighting the charges. Allegedly Benson was drunk and resisted arrest while operating a boat but he says the police falsely accused him and used excessive force.

I think that Benson has even worse problems on the field where he has proven himself to be a draft bust in the last few years since being drafted #4 overall in 2005. The Bears just grabbed Matt Forte' in the second round and it looks like they aren't playing around when it comes to rebuilding that offense around Kyle Orton and crew. Can Benson get his act together on and off the field? We will find out.

Ryan Perrilloux Kick Off Team

You know I'm tired of posting these kinds of posts. It seems that the marriage between Mr. Perrilloux and LSU wasn't meant to be. You are student athletes, you don't pay the $10,000 per year to be there. You have a FREE EDUCATION as long as you fulfill you one friggin' job: play football and stay out of trouble. If you can't do that then all power to the school for laying the smackdown on your hopes of having a professional career.

Hey Ryan, I'll have fries with that!

5 Reasons Why Matt Ryan Will Be a Bust

#1- Lack of Talent at RB

Michael Turner, Jerious Norwood... I don't believe in either. Combine those unproven backs with a rookie QB is means for disaster.

#2- Wack Wide Receivers

Roddy White came on at the end of last year but if history is anything, Atlanta is where receivers go to die. Jorn Horn isn't anything anymore either.

#3- No Alge Crumpler

Why get rid of Michael Vick's security blanket? You know your receivers are not that good and that you're bringing in a rookie, Alge was NEEDED.

#4- Michael Vick

Michael Vick will be out of jail next year and the comparisons will start. If Ryan does not look good the fans will wonder why not let Mike try again?

#5- Terrible Defense

That defense is not going to help them win games. If you can't get off the field, the game is over before Ryan even has a chance to get in sync.

And I didn't even mention their offensive line because I'm a Sam Baker fan.

Best Draft Classes of 2008

Dennis Dixon

Kansas City Chiefs- Glenn Dorsey, Branden Albert, Brandon Flowers

Three impact players that could start as early as the first couple of games next year. Building your lines is the way to a championship and the Chiefs get it. Flowers is also tremendous value in the second round.

Washington Redskins- Malcolm Kelly, Devin Thomas, Fred Davis

They trade completely out of the first and get BOTH receivers with first round grades that fell in the second. Davis was a luxury pick but Jason Campbell will not mind. Tall receivers will make their offense work the way its supposed to.

Pittsburgh Steelers- Rashard Mendenhall, Limas Sweed, Tony Hills, Dennis Dixon

Mendenhall is a one year wonder but carried a legit first round grade so picking him as a luxury will help Willie Parker a lot and add a lot to the goal line packages. Limas is the tall receiver Ben cried for, and Tony Hills will help fill Faneca's void. Dennis Dixon may be the heir apparent one day.

My Draft = WRONG!

As usual the NFL Draft was completely impossible to predict, and this shows just how stupid it is to argue on forums about people's draft value and such. Just for fun let's see how bad I was.

My correct picks:

1. Miami Dolphins- Jake Long OT Michigan

5. Kansas City Chiefs- Branden Alberts T UVA

19. Philadelphia Eagles- DeSean Jackson WR Cal

Three. Three correct picks with two in the wrong spot. That is terrible. My other mocks were closer, but oh well. There are a gang of great free agents left and I'll post on those soon.

Final Broncos Mock Draft

Denver Broncos 2008 schedule

I'm glad I waited until the 11th hour to write this, as the Broncos also favored to work in this fashion by trading for DT Dewayne Robertson the next to last day before the draft. The Broncos have a few key needs in this draft such as OT, DT, and RB depending on who you ask and this draft will do it's best to address those concerns.

On to the mockery.......

Round 1 Selection Chris Williams OT Vandy

While I waver daily with this selection, I finally see that it has come down to a handful of options between tackles, receivers, and running backs. The Broncos have a few backs that are serviceable along with an influx of veteran receivers which makes this pick scream "tackle!" at me. I hastily select Williams although he doesn't have a mean streak, but neither does Ryan Harris. Maybe we are going back towards the great Bronco lines of the mid 90's where guys stayed silent and were simply the best at what they do: zone blocking.

Round 2 Selection Dre Moore DT Maryland

In my eyes the trade for Robertson changed nothing here. Moore hasn't played a lot of football and his best days are ahead of him. Thomas' character concerns and Robertson's alleged knee problems makes this a no brainer. The Broncos need to grab a DT on day 1 and Moore is the best value with the most upside at this point.

Round 4 Selections Owen Schmitt FB WVU, Frank Okam DT Texas

As you can see I'm continuing the meat and potatoes trend in this draft with the addition of Owen Schmitt and Frank Okam. A part of me really wants Eddie Royal in Broncos blue but the better value is with the smash-mouth FB the Broncos have never had and another DT to turn what was once a weakness into a strength, similar to the mass drafting of CB and DE we saw in years past.

Round 5 Selections Mike Hart RB Michigan, Darius Reynaud KR WVU

I believe in Mike Hart. Sure his numbers are horrible. Sure he ran behind Jake Long. Sure he is only 5'9. But he has an undeniable spirit to win and he fills right in with my meat and potatoes Broncos. Hart is a guy that wouldn't let Michigan die after suffering a historic loss to 1AA Appalachian State and stayed on the Heisman watch all year because of it. His year culminated with a bowl game which saw him loose multiple fumbles (his only fumbles in like 2 years or something like that) only to comeback mentally tough to finish and get the win.

Reynaud is a guy I've seen terrorize my ECU Pirates one too many times in his college career. He is a game changer and that guy that you seem to never notice until he is in the endzone either from a reverse, a catch, or a kick return. He is bulit like a RB and has the moves of one after the catch. He would develop nicely with Brandon Marshall who plays very similar after the catch and would give coverage teams fits all year long.

Round 6 Selection Pedro Sosa OT Rutgers

I love the linemen from Rutgers and with good reason. They helped Ray Rice put Rutgers on the map with their BCS run last year and this season helped Rice eclipse the 2000 yard mark. Coming from a pro style offense always helps tackles and he will add depth behind Pears and Harris.

Round 7 Selections Mike Dragosavich P ND St, Jamie Silva S BC

Mike Drago is a regional favorite who I know little of. I do know he can kick though and I currently do not know who is the Broncos starting punter. That needs to be changed. Jamie Silva is a prospect we have already spoken too and could end up being a contributor if he makes the squad over Rogers and Cargile.

Cowboys Get Pacman

Pacman Jones

The Cowboys and Titans finally agreed on a trade for Pacman Jones. The trade is based on a conditional fourth rounder in which Tennessee gets a fourth for the corner now, but would have to give Dallas a fourth if Pacman is not reinstated. Risky trade for the Titans knowing "Make it Rain" Jones' history but fair value considering last year a fourth rounder got you this guy:

Randy Moss

NFL Hat Rule is Racist

Al Harris

This May the NFL will explore adding a new rule called the 'hat rule' which players with longer locks will be asked to tuck it in their helmets. AKA cut it, because if your black and have ever had longer hair you know that's going to be very uncomfortable. Goddell needs to be stopped.

The Redskins are Desperate

redskins

The Redskins have offered two teams trade offers to acquire top flight wide receivers in the last 24 hours. First they tried to get Ocho to no avail, so they did the next best thing and knocked on the Cardinals door about Anquan Boldin. Another no.

In this age of draft espionage can we believe that the Redskins are this desperate or are they trying to trick teams they are drafting a receiver high? I think it may be a mix of both ultimately with the Skins landing a receiver sometime on day one.

Vikings trade 1st to KC, Get Allen

Jared Allen

Kansas City will be without the services of star DE Jared Allen but will be two picks richer in Saturday's draft. The Vikings traded a first, third, and swapped sixth round selections with the Chief's to acquire Allen.

Interesting move because now KC has two picks, one at the top and one in the middle of the draft. I almost guarantee they will select Ryan now due to the luxury this creates. New mock soon!

The Bengals Need To Trade CJ Now

Chad Johnson

As I said in this post, it would behoove the Bengals to go ahead and deal Chad Johnson now. The Redskins offered a first in this years draft and a third which would be a first if incentives are met in 2009. And the Bengals said? No deal.

Idiots!

Yes, Chad Johnson has your franchise by the balls right now and it's not fair. Yes he does not have to get traded but this guy clearly wants out and if he does play he will be a lame duck. Think Randy Moss in Oakland. No one wants that kind of cancerous cell on their team. Both parties would benefit greatly from a clean break.

For the Bengals, they benefit with two first round picks in a very solid draft class. They could take Sedrick Ellis at 9 if he's there and then take a few WRs later, such as James Hardy with the other first rounder and someone like Darius Reynaud or Jordy Nelson sometime later. Cut the cancer before he spreads Marvin, he will kill you locker room.
